Cooler days have arrived and your skin is probably feeling the effects. Dry, dull and problem looking skin can all be changed with a few skincare tips to bolster your daily routine to help keep your skin feeling invigorated, fresh and soft.
Stay hydrated. The more hydrated you keep your body, the more your skin will naturally follow suit.. If you have a hard time remembering to drink you water, learn to make a habit out of it by setting a reminder in your phone or even try something silly-like taking a sip every time you glance at your social media page.
Swap your moisturizer. Use a heavier, oil based non comedogenic moisturizer. That’s one that is specially formulated so as not to cause blocked pores. This will help seal water in your skin and will keep it more moisturized than a water-based face lotion.
Munch on veggies. Cucumbers, celery and lettuce naturally container a lot of water. Snacking on these will help with your water consumption and help boost your vitamin A, B and E. All needed for healthy skin.
Switch up your cleanser. Using a creme cleanser during the cooler months instead of gel will help in hydrating the skin. Gel cleansers tend to help in reducing oils and not hydrate. You can always switch back in the warmer months ahead.
Turn down the heat. It feels great to take a hot shower or slip into a tub of hot water, but we sometimes get into the habit of overdoing it a bit with the temperature of our water. The heat of the water mixed with your body or skin wash depletes the natural oils on your kin, which causes it to dry out faster. Turning the knob to a warm and not hot temperature will help your body to retain its natural oils, and keep your skin soft. Its best to apply moisturizers immediately after exiting the shower or bath while the skin is still damp. This helps to hold moisture in.
Getting regular facials. As the cooler months are around your skin will continue to age and its natural ability to regenerate new layers of skin slows down. Gentle exfoliation will help slough off old skin cells and reveal fresh, glowing skin.
Keep in mind these cooler months are only here for a short time but as you incorporate some hydrating tips, your skin should keep in balance and look and feel healthy.
